Moisture Risk Management Strategies for Mass Timber Buildings takes the reader beyond general moisture risk management information and guidance and through a detailed mass timber assembly analysis and risk assessment process and the development of a construction phase moisture management plan.
The intent of this guide is to educate designers, construction professionals, and building developers on best practice design and construction strategies for the moisture management of mass timber buildings. This guide describes measures that the design and construction team may take to mitigate the risks associated with exposing the mass timber enclosure and other elements, including floors, to moisture during construction and occupancy. References and additional resources are included.
Version 2 of this guide includes expanded tools, checklists, and guidance, drawing on new and previously published content from RDH Building Science. The guide features a three-step process describing how to assess moisture risks for mass timber assemblies, develop a moisture management plan, and execute the plan. A detailed case study demonstrates how this three-step process may be applied to a mass timber building project.
This guide is a companion to Mass Timber Building Enclosure Best Practice Design Guide v2.
